  • Open plan for sense of space in efficient footprint (smaller house big interior dimensions)
  • Living units well integrated with site
  • Reciprocity of inside and outside spaces
  • Aggregate form for sense of human scale and visual interest
  • Articulated massing to create entry overhangs and outdoor spaces
  • Variety of dimensions for sense of scale
  • Large and strategically placed windows for daylight and sense of space, and connectedness between inside and outside
  • Exterior spaces to enlarge living area in 3 seasons
  • Low slope roof to provide maximum volume within transportation and manufacturing parameters and Roof Terrace upgrade
  • Use of color to provide low cost visual interest and variety

Construction

  • ICF frost foundation for insulated crawl/mechanical space with rat slab
  • TJI floor and ceiling framing
  • Wall construction layers: Interior plane – vapor barrier paint, GWB 2x6 studs, High Density fiberglass batt, ½” sheathing, 1-1/2” rigid foam over studs, strapping, siding (metal, wood), Exterior plane
  • Rigid foam insulation in roof and ceiling framing
  • Membrane Roof

Green

  • Solar orientation
  • LEED Gold estimated
  • Five Star Plus Home Energy Rating by Efficiency Vermont
  • Low maintenance materials
  • Preserve open space on site
  • Minimal site disturbance
  • Enhance wetlands
  • Create zone of no mow, minimal maintenance “meadow”
  • Minimize paved surface with efficient road and parking layout
  • Long life cycle materials
  • Well insulated building envelope and foundation
  • Heat recovery fresh air
  • Local material sources used in Demtec fabrication
  • Low VOC materials
  • Limited turf on site
  • Rain screen construction
  • Foam over wood stud construction for thermal break to exterior
  • Glued drywall for low infiltration
  • Low slope roof for GREEN ROOF upgrade
  • Poltruded fiberglass insulated window and doors
  • Efficient appliances
  • Natural light and good vision glazing
  • Unfolding eaves for shedding water and solar shading
