COLLOQUIUM CONCLAVE

Held Monday, February 26th, 2007

9:30am to 6:00pm

Daniel Johnson’s Office (for a Google Map)

52 Bridge Street

White River Junction, VT

$20.00 for food

OVERVIEW of EVENT

The Colloquium Conclave was an opportunity for teams to formally present observations and preliminary designs explored during the Discovery Period.  This process enable teams to share common themes and hurtles they have addressed through various designs and manufacturing facilities delivery processes.  By discussing issues of design and delivery methods it is the goal of the Conclave to raise the bar and deepen the pool of knowledge for all teams as they enter the Solutions Period of the Colloquium.

Teams were encouraged to balance the three core values, identified by members the Colloquium, for duration of the projects.  Using a performance based analysis through use of the venn diagram, teams will continually monitor and assess the design, affordability and sustainability of the projects.

OUTLINE OF PROGRAM

Groups should plan to arrive at Daniel Johnson’s office at 9:30am for coffee,

bagels and doughnuts provided.   The first group should prepare to present

at 10am.  There is plenty of parking on the side of the building.  Please

do not park in front of the fabric store.

For lunch we are planning on ordering out from one of several local restaurants.

There are several options and we will take a count once everyone has arrived

on Monday morning.  Please bring $20.00 for lunch and breakfast.  If paying

by check, please make it out to CORAVT.  Dinner plans will be made that day

and will not be covered by the $20.00.  Groups are invited to have dinner;

however, it is not part of the activities planned.

Schedule

Each group will have about 15-20 minutes to present their project.  The remaining

time will be spent discussing observations and general strategies found through all

projects presented.  We have six groups and about eight hours.  If there is

any new business to discuss please inform John Connell so that it can be included

in the days events.  Presentation order has not been established.

Requirements

There will be ample room for presenting on the wall at Daniel’s office.  Pins

will be provided along with additional large format paper for notes and on

the fly graphics.  A large table will also be available for models and

drawings should we need more room.

To ensure that we can have productive assembly, teams should prepare

the minimum requirements for presentation and discussion.  Teams should

also have a strong understanding their paired manufacturer’s delivery

and construction methods.  A .dwg copy of the site plan can be found

in the Resources section of the CORA-VT web page.

Using the venn diagram, teams should begin to analyze their projects based on the core values we identified at the outset of the Colloquium; a pin the tail on the donkey kind of exercise.  A Photoshop copy of the venn is available for download and editing in the “templates & graphics” folder listed above.

All other supporting graphics for the Colloquium are available for download

under the “templates & graphics” link.

As a reminder, Jeff Gephart has offered to run projects through the

Efficiency Vermont energy analysis software.  At this point groups should

wait until after the Conclave to submit their projects.  Please contact Jeff

if you are interested.

Please contact John Connell for further information and detail.
